think Evangelical Christians believe is not the privilege of belonging through membership of the Protestant Church. Evangelical means in a certain way based on the Gospel of Christ Christian.
Luther and his colleagues at Wittenberg in the years 1512-1519 have been rediscovered in a particularly clear way that faith style. It consists of a combination of four to mutually supportive and explanatory components:
Christ alone (solus Christus): Christ is the center, the center of the Christian faith, namely Christ, the crucified and risen, as a comforter and refuge in temptation and orientation in life.
grace alone (sola gratia): In Christ addressed God full of mercy, in the fullness of his grace. He forgives us our sins and gives us the certainty that this is so.
Only faith (sola fide): In faith we enter into a direct relationship with Christ and are us the assurance of God completely certain. The belief is that no obedience to authority, but the experience is very loved by God, accepted and renewed to know.
But the Scripture (sola scriptura): Christ, grace and faith are what the Scriptures as apostolic witness to the Gospel opens his eyes. The document replaces the tradition as an authority, not to lead to a new prison, but to liberate the conscience of a bond in Christ alone.
Luther at the Leipzig Disputation 1519:
"For a Catholic [= Christians, of whatever religion] is not necessary to have things out to it by the Scripture . Are to believe even more "(16 thesis)
" The authority of councils, [the post-apostolic authority] is under the authority of Scripture "(Thesis 17)
